HIGH ASPIRATION IN KNOWLEDGE
BismillaahirRahmanirRaheem

Aspirations are defined as: “directing one’s hopes and ambitions towards achieving an
objective”. THE BELIEVER HAS HIGH ASPIRATIONS – we know that we differ in our aspirations,
dunya /akhirah. Akhirah is the Aspiration of the Believer.
How the Scholars viewed Aspiration:
Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimehullaah) said "By Allah, how great is aspiration, and yet how divergent it
is between people, while some people having aspiration like it is attached to the Throne,
while others have aspiration like it is at the height of the grass."
Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimehullaah) said "By Allah, how great is aspiration, and yet how divergent it
is between people, while some people having aspiration like it is attached to the Throne,
while others have aspiration like it is at the height of the grass."
Ibn al-Jawzi (rahimehullaah) said "Indeed the life of a person is
expensive, so do not accept for
your life, except the price of Paradise.”
your life, except the price of Paradise.”
So we need to reflect on our lives and ask, what kind of aspiration do I have?
What are the things that aspire me to move?
Is it the call of prayer, or it is the opening bell at
the stock market?
What makes one person not accept a penny of Haram wealth, while the other does not care
whether he eats from the Halal or Haram? What makes one person stand up and try to make
the changes in his life to the obedience of Allah (subhanehu ue te’ala) and supporting his
brothers and sisters, while
the other is asleep, hoping for no one to bother his nap? Indeed it is the
matter of aspiration, and aiming for nothing less than Paradise.
How to raise my Aspirations? I was thinking and thinking, and I came to one
conclusion.
Living with a dynamic life, economic difficulties, division in family, time losing to think on others, can make us lose sight on our goals. BUT we must not let this happen. The moment I started practicing Islam- being a Qur’an Teacher, I started to appreciate TIME. TIME started to be precious to me and always planned. Alhamdulillaah. I don’t have to think more on others, I don’t have to go in wasteful gatherings, and my heart is CALM. Now, I can think more on MYSELF, to change myself, and to think how to achieve my goals. My aspiration became high, because my life is precious I need to use it in the right way to the correct destination. We should take our direction from the following hadith of the Prophet (salAllaahu alayhi wasalaam): “Whoever makes the Hereafter his goal, Allah places abundance in his heart, and organizes his affairs, and the world comes to him despite its unwillingness. And whoever’s aim is worldly gain, Allah puts poverty before his eyes, and disorganizes his affairs, and nothing of this world comes to him, except what has been decreed for him.” [Tirmidhi

We need to think always positive and have tawaqul in Allaah that HE will help us reach His
Pleasure, if we strive and give our best, Allaah will guide us on the right way as He says in the
Qur’an; surah Ankaboot-69 : “And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.” Reading the ayah’s of what Allaah has promised for the Believers, Jannah’s,and all the pleasure in it, makes our aspirations high. Also looking back on the stories of our forefathers on their high aspirations will make us more clear on how to reach our goals. BUT we must be careful not to fall into arrogance because this will break us and put us into a big sickness! May Allaah protect us always amen.
May Allah (subhanehu we tea’la) guide us to adopt the aspiration that pleases Him alone and
protect us from His punishment. Ameen.
Allaah knows best
